  • i’ve been back on tumblr for a while now, so here’s an introduction and updates on things with me.

i’m mind, i like he/they/xe pronouns, and i’m ace/aro spec. i’m currently a university student studying econ and finance, 21. i use my block button whenever i want. terfs and other phobes are not welcome on my blog.

reblogs are mostly random but i try to tag warnings. i don’t and won’t reblog anything with harsh wording or no-good-faith foundations and, in general, i don’t really reblog anything with heavy topics because this is my fun fandom time away from irl.

i try to tag everything i reblog in this year with #2023

    ×× currently reblogging + current fandoms ××

    • mcyt (sbi, crimeduo, & sapnap mostly)
    • poetry/prose/webweaves (tagged #aes or #words)
    • the witcher (tv & video game)
    • john wick (the comic & movies - keanu is tagged as #kayak)
    • the sandman (tv & comics)
    • howrse (the game) & horses (#horsie!!!)
    • kdramas (obsessed with king:eternal monarch and flower of evil rn)

×× update on my life as of october ××

    ×× has a new update as of 07/28 ××

    • working on emerald duo & bedrock bro wips :) <- will be posting a list of my current aus & ideas so that y'all can potentially say which you’d like to see more
    • updating a log of all the fanfiction i read throughout the year to see how much brainrot i have and what tags, fandoms, etc i read the most <- you can find 2022’s summary here and here
  • adobe is actively pushing to make art styles intellectual property covered under copyright law and artists online are doing shit like this

    image

you guys are all so fucked like you dont even understand what youre doing do you seriously think this is in your favour for the love of god hello am i alone in this world. youre leading yourself to the slaughter

  • Also, if your problem is AI art: Adobe is also making an ai art generator

Adobe does not want to ban AI art. They want it to only exist in the hands of wealthy copyright holders. They want art styles to be copyrighted for the same reason: so they can make money from owning other people’s work. So they can sue you for drawing something too similar to an art style they own

Adobe is not your friend. Expanding copyright law is far more dangerous for artists than AI will ever be

  • i drew a horse from memory one like and i will reveal my beautiful boy to the world

But what if it was all a dream

  • This is more unsettling. I know it's there. I know it should be there. I know this pristine landscape is hiding its horrors like teeth.

  • [I.D. an edited version of the "children's hospital" meme photo where the splattering red pattern on the hall floor has been removed. End I.D.]

Well duh. It’s just color theory

  • stepped on a plum (overripe plum) (barefoot) it was on the driveway got out of the car and accidentally (didn't know it was there) stepped on the plum (warm) (on the ground) (it had fallen from the tree) barefoot (no shoes) wearing long pants (too long) (need to hem them) plum viscera got on them (the pants) unexpected plum on the driveway (hot plum) (97 degrees out) already super hungover (throwing up all morning) (should not have been driving at all) and I stepped out of the car (black car) (97 degrees out) and onto the plum (unexpected) (didn't know the plum was there) and it burst (plum nightmare on my only good pair of sweatpants) still we find ways to keep ourselves going from day to day

  • hiya! I figured id make an informational post about the little things ive noticed about being on testosterone that I found weren’t talked about a lot when I was starting my transition and even before when I was doing my research. I think that trans sexual health is an extremely important part of trans peoples lives (and that doesnt necessarily mean sex) seeing as the physical changes that happen during transition are often foreign to us. Sexual health keeps us healthy and comfortable in our bodies, so do your best to stay attentive to your body’s changes! As always, consult your doctor if you feel the need to. These are only tips ive learned from transitioning myself and from my doctor when I asked about certain things.

Fucking tumblr our here really trying to teach the world things

  • Hey this isn’t necessarily something for HRT. But rather for top surgery for those considering it, most every surgeon and endocrinologist I’ve met (save for the ones I’m working with currently) doesn’t mention this and trans dudes who have gone through top surgery sometimes don’t even know about it, but your ti🅱️🅱️ies? They make hormones. Lots of them. When you get top surgery you’re removing a primary maker of hormones from your body and it’ll throw you through a loop, and for anywhere from a few days to a couple months after the surgery your hormones are gonna be WACK. This will usually cause a post-surgery depression that a lot of trans men sometimes confuse with regret for taking this step in their transition and it’ll throw them into an identity crisis, so for those planning on taking that step, just remember that weird ass sadness you’re gonna feel is just your hormones being like “hey wHAT the FUCK” and you made the right decision for you!!

  • Can confirm that bottom growth is a real and painful thing. If you’re the kind of person who wears skinny jeans regularly (looking at u fashionable goth/punk trans ppl), here’s a tip for your first few months of T: don’t.

Bottom growth will be overly sensitive and stick out of the hood more than usual, and anytime the inside of ur jeans rubs against it it will a) hurt and b) make u horny.

This can be a problem in general, but especially if u have bottom dysphoria and being reminded of ur junk can make u dysphoric, and/or if ur ace like me and being horny can be a very confusing and annoying experience (I know this is not every aces experience but I had never really had a sex drive or arousal before T and it was very distressing at first. Still ace tho)

Oh also: microdosing can be great for slowing changes and letting ur body adapt more gradually (It can be very helpful for more gradual and natural sounding voice changes), however, it will not let you avoid certain changes entirely. Microdosing will not prevent bottom growth from happening, or any other changes you may want to avoid. Unfortunately what changes you get are genetic and there is no way to pick and chose which you get. A lower dose of T can make it go more slowly to help you get used to it more gradually or so that if there are changes you really want to avoid you can try and stop before those advance too far, but it can’t prevent changes from happening entirely, certainly not specific ones. And certainly not bottom growth, which is one of the first changes to start and one of the least reversible.

(I don’t say this because I think that was what op was trying to say abt microdosing at all btw, I’m just trying to clarify because I remember when I started T and was researching low dose T, I saw some people on online forums hoping it would allow them to avoid bottom growth for example, and it won’t, so I wanted to clear that up)

Also re: top surgery, the first time I saw my chest post-op my brain flipped and I got so dizzy I nearly passed out. This is also relatively normal and okay. I think my brain just kind of freaked out seeing my body so different from what we were used to and also oh yeah with a big scar running across it. Its okay, that doesn’t mean you regret it either. I think sometimes ur brain just needs a minute to catch up and realize ‘oh wait this isn’t a traumatic injury this is what my chest is supposed to look like’. Once I had seen my chest a few times and let my brain get used to it I was absolutely thrilled and loved it (and still do). I also had a panic attack the night before my surgery because I was afraid of the anesthesia. Again, doesnt mean I made the wrong decision.

I think a lot of trans ppl don’t know that surgery can just be an emotionally intense experience, and yeah can also mess with ur hormones a bit (another consequence of both hormonal stuff and the stress of surgery is I got really bad acne for awhile after surgery) and so you might feel all kinds of weird or stressed directly before or after. It’s okay. Make sure u have supportive ppl around u to take care of u, and wait until ur body has had a bit of time to heal and renormalize before u start panicing over if u made the right choice or not. You’ll probably be sleeping for most of the first week anyway. Give ur body and ur nerves a break for a bit.

  • I learned so very much from this. I’ve seen posts talking about MtF transition and the hormone weirdness that causes, but this is the first FtM one I’ve seen.

  • ok! 🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵

  • some of you are miserable because you're mean. like you're just mean to people and things

  • "why don't i have any friends" because you are mean

  • this can be fixed at least in part very easily though! just stop being mean. i believe in all of you 👍

  • image
    image
  • re-reblogging this with actual advice because sometimes it really isn't that self-evident how to Not Be Mean

    DO

    • celebrate other people's good news (tell them that what happened was great, they earned/deserve it, you're happy for them, elaborate on how it's a good thing and why they deserve to be happy about it)
    • sympathize with other people's troubles (tell them what they're going through sucks, they did their best, point out that not all is lost (use examples of what they still have going for them) but it can still fucking suck)
    • react and ask questions related to what people say to you (ask for elaborations or explanations, ask about future plans, ask how things went before, relate the things they've said now to things they've said in the past, use their name sometimes, add your own (positive or neutral) perspective on the events, share related experiences)
    • if someone is instigating a fight or pissing you off, just walk away -- or, if it's all online, block them (it'll make you look better, i promise)
    • ask about their day/state and pay attention to what they say, and apply the first three as needed
    • snark or make jokes/puns, if you have them, and be willing to laugh at other people's jokes/snark/puns
    • share good events, interesting things, and the things that make you happy/excited (try not to 'qualify' these, i.e. add on reasons why you should be sad about the news, or why the news wasn't actually that great -- it's not the end of the world if you do, but it does defeat the purpose a bit)
    • share bad events or things you're unhappy about (it's important to open up, and it's unreasonable to expect yourself to be happy all the time; just make sure it's balanced out by the positives as well)
    • remember that nobody does things that are senseless, and the sooner you can figure out why someone is doing what they're doing, the easier it'll be to deal with and negotiate (common reasons for baffling or harmful actions are: distress, self-interest, misguided altruism, unquestioned biases, peer pressure, thoughtlessness)
    • keep in mind that everyone (including you) is doing their best at any given time, and sometimes that 'best' just isn't that good

    TRY NOT TO

    • be harsh about or insult yourself (keeping in mind that that is taking side swipes at other people who have those traits, regardless of how you mean it)
    • point out why people should feel bad about the things they're happy about
    • ignore all the specifics of what the person you're speaking with is saying
    • spend a significant amount of time mocking other people (we all need to vent and we all have our moments; the operative word here is significant -- don't make it your personality)
    • put down to malice what can adequately be explained by stupidity (don't assume someone is being cruel when they could just as well be doing it because they're dumb/oblivious)
    • dismiss or belittle other people's distress (it's not a competition, and their distress is real regardless)
    • dismiss or belittle other people's happiness or interest (it's not a competition, and their happiness is something you want in order to Not Be Mean)

(this is both non-exhaustive and not ironclad, simply a list of general things to aim for and skills to practice)

basically, 'people will largely stick by you through pretty dark shit if you make their lives brighter the rest of the time' is super legit and something to lean into

  • You know when someone goes through your blog on a mass like-spree for a fandom? I love those like, 19 notifications in a row. it’s like “Ah, I see you’re well into a fixation. God bless.”

  • Me: “You can’t ascribe human morality to non-human animals because they do not share our particular cognition and culture.”

Tumblr: “Why do you hate animism, huh? Why do you think humans are a separate species from other animals, you human supremacist?”

  • Me: “You wouldn’t marry a warthog because you know that its cognition is different from human cognition, it is a different species with different abilities and emotions, and it does not share your understanding of marriage and consent and culture. It’s different from you and you know this.”

Tumblr: “Well humans don’t all speak the same language, so…”

Of all the ridiculous arguments I’ve gotten into on Tumblr dot hell this one. This one might be. Might be the wildest.

  • I’M LOSING MY MIND

  • “I’m trying to establish whether or not you think a sand hill crane is interchangeable with a human boyfriend”

  • I love this so much

So, for those of you unaware: The Korean entertainment industry is an absolute nightmare. Actors have gone years never being paid for work they're owed pay on. The idol industry is terrible in all the ways. And it's honestly no surprise the industry is shit for writers as well. Glad to see the Korean writers are standing up for themselves too!
